High Speed VMC Reduces Non Cutting Time

Sandvik Coromant’s CoroTurn 300 is designed to increase component quality, handling efficiency and tool life in high-volume OD steel turning applications that require longitudinal and face-turning operations. The tool features stable insert clamping through the iLock interface. The system locks the insert in place to prevent cutting forces from affecting the tool position. iLock provides tool accuracy within ±0.05 mm (0.002"), giving the operator indexing repeatability for a better surface finish and increased tool life.

The CoroTurn 300 features eight-edge inserts with 80-degree cutting edges, which are available in GC4325 and GC4315 grades. The inserts feature Inveio coating, a uni-directional crystal orientation to increase wear resistance and tool life. According to the Carbide Milling Insert company, the design features excellent chip-breaking capabilities and less carbide per edge, which reduces environmental impacts and produces less waste.

The tool offers additional chip-breaking capabilities through high-precision over- and under-coolant. Coolant from above controls chip breaking for secure machining while under-coolant controls the temperature for extended tool life. The tool is also equipped with Coromant Capto interface in a variety of sizes, and Quick Start shanks, which enable quick tool changes and coolant U Drill Inserts connections to increase efficiency.

Changing Cutting Tools Solves Three Problems in Hard Turning Application

ANCA’s ToolRoom RN34, with support for complex endmill geometries, is designed to improve cutting tool manufacturers’ productivity in the aerospace, die/mold, general machining and TNGG Insert power generation industries. The high complexity of endmills designed to minimize quality issues resulting from chatter influenced the development of Tool Balancing in ToolRoom RN34 release. According to the company, direct communication between design and simulation software packages has simplified and eased tool balancing.

While the ability to design and manufacture chatter-avoiding variable helix/lead and pitch pieces, as well as variable helix/lead pieces with angle changes along the flute, are long-standing software offerings, variable helix/pitch introduces uneven weight distribution throughout the tool and requires balancing at higher rpms.

To simplify creation of balanced tools, a graphical drag-and-drop designer cutting edge replaces the constant helix ballnose option. This new ballnose cutting edge, SOMT Insert featuring optimized irregular helix curves, becomes available when switching from 2D projections of the cutting edge to 3D projections. These tools are recommended for die mold, power generation and aerospace applications.

Grinding a standard ballnose cutting tool with the correct chisel angle and relief, straightness and ball profile line form is difficult, but ToolRoom RN34 has simplified it by automating the entire process. The end-user only needs to choose the proper chisel style and new cycles will populate the grinding parameters automatically. This enables center cutting of ballnose tools and eliminates wear and tear of the tip section.

Other features within the latest version of ToolRoom RN34 include revamped ToolTypes. These include double-radius endmills, threadmills, lollipop cutters, countersink tools, pocket grinding applications, embedded grinding files, new grinding methods, chipbreaker operations, constant helix fir tree cutters, protection for grinding files, double margin drills, other enhancements in profile software and other ToolTypes.

About External Turning Inserts VNMG

A carbide blade with cutting bevels refers to a cutting tool that Indexable Milling Insert has a blade made from carbide material and features bevels on its cutting edges. Carbide is a highly durable and wear-resistant material, making it popular for various cutting applications.

The cutting bevels on the blade refer to the angled edges on the blade's cutting surface. These bevels are typically designed to optimize the cutting performance of the blade by creating a sharp cutting edge. The angle and shape of the bevels can vary depending on the specific cutting task and the material being cut.

Carbide blades with cutting bevels are commonly used in industries such as woodworking, metalworking, and construction. They are suitable for cutting a wide range of materials, including wood, plastic, non-ferrous metals, and some ferrous metals.

The carbide material LOGU Insert used in these blades is composed of tungsten carbide particles embedded in a metal matrix, often cobalt. This composition provides excellent hardness and durability, allowing the blade to maintain its cutting edge for a longer time compared to blades made from other materials.

When using a carbide blade with cutting bevels, it is important to consider the specific application and ensure the blade is compatible with the cutting machine or tool being used. Additionally, proper safety precautions should always be followed, including wearing appropriate protective gear such as safety glasses and gloves.

3 factors to help you know about the carbide inserts price

If you want best quality threads machined on a CNC lathe, do the following:

  • Use a “full profile” carbide threading insert. A full profile insert (Eg, 16ER 1.5 ISO) can be used to machine threads of only one pitch. But they accurately machine the root radius, in accordance with the pitch. they also eliminate burrs.

  • In mass production, use proper Anvil in theThreading tool holderhaving inclination equal to the lead angle of the thread 16IR Insert you require.

  • Use left handed tools for machining left handed threads.

Brief Introduction of Cemented Carbide Coating

The temperature of tungsten alloy material inside shaped charge liners rises from normal temperature to more than 1000℃ and strain rate reaches 1.0×105s-1. So, we can see that the shaping procedure of EFP (Explosively Formed Penetrator) is happening under the conditions of high temperature, high pressure and high strain rate. It is not any materials that can shape complete EFP. It has quite a high claims on the dynamic characteristics of materials under the condition of high temperature, high pressure and high strain rate. The ideal materials for shaped charge liners tungsten carbide inserts should have the properties of high melting temperature, high density, high elongation and dynamic strength, etc. Tungsten alloy material is ideal material for shape charged liners. Otherwise, engineering application also should considerate the cost and resources of material. Those materials which are important, high price and short resources are not easily utilized for a wide range.

Tungsten copper alloy shaped charge liners recombine metals which have different function so that can exert the complicated advantages of alloy. Compared with those single-metal shaped charge liners, tungsten copper alloy shaped charge liners have more reasonable transformation and absorption mechanism, more excellent penetration and lower cost. So it has wide prospect for development.
